City opens Lentegeur revenue office to members of the public

02 June 2020

The City of Cape Town opened the Lentegeur revenue office for operations today, 2 June 2020. It is important to note that Motor Licence Renewal and Driver’s Licencing Testing Centres will open across the metro from Tuesday, 9 June 2020 for customers when the nationally controlled traffic information system is fully operational again.

The City continues to encourage the use of online services and e-Services where possible. These services allow customers the opportunity to make municipal account payments, indigent applications, payment arrangements and rates rebate applications.

All the necessary precautions were taken as guided by the Western Cape Government and National Authorities. The opening of more revenue offices across the metro will be communicated to members of the public soon.

Motorists are reminded that a 90-day grace period applies for expired driving licence cards, temporary driving licences, learner’s licences, PrDPs and vehicle registration and licence renewal discs from 1 June 2020.

Grace periods from 1 June for:

  • driving licence card renewals
  • learner’s licences
  • temporary permits
  • professional driving permits (PrDPs)
  • roadworthy certificates
  • the registering and licensing of a motor vehicle, as well as annual licence renewals

In addition, the validity period for the renewal of a motor trade number licence is extended for a further six months from 1 June 2020.
